Pierre Cardin launches a……….tablet?

It seems that designers are now taking over the world of mobile technology. There has been Prada LG  phones for example, but now it seems that they are taking over the world of tablets. Pierre Cardin has now launched a tablet.

The specs are a 7 inch touchscreen, so is the same size as a blackberry playbook. There are no cameras on it, 3G is accesible only by a dongle, has 512mb of ram and is running android 2.2 froyo rather than 3.0 Honeycomb.

The Pierre Cardin tablet is supposed to be “perfectly sized to fit in the palm of your hand yet practical enough for life on the go”. However it is 1.4 cm thick. Which is a lot thicker than the ipad 2’s 8.8mm. Seems like they need to do some more work on it before it becomes a viable alternative to any tablet.

What’s going to be in the new xperia mini?

The follow up to last years x10 mini has been released now and here’s a quick overview of the device.

It now has a 1GHz processor compared to the 600mhz in the old one. It is running android 2.3 gingerbread too. It’s still going to use sonys timescape and mediascape skins because the device is too small really to run android without something over the top of it.

This is all I can find at the moment on it but hopefully will find out more soon.

05/08/2011: More specs of the xperia mini. its dimensions are 88 x 52 x 16 mm. the screen will be 320 x 480 pixels. It is a Quad band, touchscreen phone. It has a 5 MP camera. it will have 512 MB RAM and 320MB storage which will be expandable with a Micro SD card up to 32 GB.

Wii u details in 2012?

It has been said that the details of the wii u will not be released until 2012.

The demo model that was shown at E3 this year was in the very early stages of it being designed. We will see an actual wii u in 2012’s E3.

However to keep the Internet from leaking supposed wii u parts or body shells. This was shown to some people at a nintendo conference. At the moment I cannot find any photo’s or documents on these mock ups but hope to find some soon.

Bjork invites hackers to publish her biophillia app

As it seems that many hackers are being arrested and such for doing such illegal activities, it seems that bjork wants hackers to hack her app and take it to other devices that aren’t iOS.

This sounds like a good way to spread it, but it could easily backfire and is defiantly not the norm. I’d be interested to see how this develops.

Playstation vita. An overpriced ps3 controller?

A while after hearing about the release of the vita, we are hearing a bit more about it.

Now, it seems that the vita is going to be able to be used as a ps3 controller. As with the move, this seems like Sony is taking a leaf out of nintendo’s book…again. To me, it seems like they’re already trying to get a foot up on the wii u. But having to buy 2 consoles both over 200 pounds is a bit much.

So, is it going to be the same again with Sony and Microsoft taking nintendo’s ideas and improving them? Seems so, and seems pricey too.

05/08/2011: it has now been said that the playstation vita has been delayed in the us and europe launches and will probably not be out for the holiday season. however japan can expect a release for late in the year. also a definate price has been established now. The PlayStation Vita will cost $249 USD (£152 GBP)  for its Wi-Fi-only version and $299 USD (£182 GBP) for its mobile phone handset.

Skype for iPad is offers the best of both worlds for users who want a larger Skype experience, on-the-go. The large iPad screen is perfect for bringing Skype video calls to life, in either landscape or portrait view, and because it is on the iPad, Skype video calls can be made at the beach, in a car or even lying on a couch.

Not only does Skype for iPad feature an interface that takes advantage of the large screen, but there are a number of additional iPad-optimized features found in this new app, including:

    • Two-way video calling.* With Skype video calling available on iPhones, as well as in Skype for Android, Skype for Mac, Skype for Windows, Skype on HDTVs and more – you can connect to over 170 million Skype connected users worldwide**.
    • Instant messaging. You can even instant message during a video call on your iPad, with emoticons to personalize your message.
    • Simple to view contacts. Contacts are now displayed in a grid on Skype for iPad, showing large avatar photos – making it easy to find your contacts and conversations.
    • Easy navigation. Find your recent Skype conversations and history at the touch of a button making searching simple.
  • Simple SMS texting. An SMS text message can be sent by simply opening a contact and selecting SEND SMS or by opening the dial pad, typing in the number you wish to SMS and then typing your message.

The new Skype for iPad app also takes full advantage of the iPad 2’s dual cameras, allowing users to talk face-to-face with the iPad’s front camera or switch to the rear camera to show what they can see. Skype for iPad also allows users to call landlines and mobiles using Skype’s great low rates – all a user needs is a little Skype Credit. Skype for iPad works across both 3G and Wi-Fi networks and also allows users to make voice and video calls across platforms from their iPad to other Skype users on iPhones, Mac, and Windows.
